Introducing Courtney
"My
name is Courtney. I’m from Michigan, which is a northern state in the United
States that borders Canada. The state nickname is the Great Lakes State since
we touch four of the five Great Lakes, including the world’s largest freshwater
lake – Lake Superior. It is also known for Motown music (The Jackson 5, Stevie
Wonder, The Temptations, etc.), the automobile industry, and our unstoppable
sports teams (the Detroit Redwings have gone to the playoffs 22 years in a
row). Our famous foods include cherries, which are grown on the west side of
the state in Traverse City, which calls itself the cherry capital of the world.
We are also known for Mackinac Island fudge and apple cider that comes from mills that are sprinkled throughout the state.
Even though I love Michigan, I went to college in southern California. I attended Chapman University. There, I studied screenwriting and played for the school’s basketball team. Even though I no longer play on an organized team, I still love sports and try to play basketball and soccer (football if you’re from the UK) whenever I can. I also enjoy reading, watching movies and hanging out at the beach in my free time."
Welcome to our school, Courtney!
